A decade ago, Boldwood was at the forefront of the rediscovery of traditional English instrumental music from the time of Playford to Jane Austen that lay neglected in handwritten manuscripts and publications. The group’s 2008 debut album Feet, Don’t Fail Me Now won Fatea Magazine’s Tradition Award, and went on to become highly influential to the latest generation of musicians.

Boldwood’s latest album Glory of the West was released in 2018, and is another collection full of undiscovered gems that have been rescued from library shelves and even 18th century fans of printed music that provide a glimpse into society life.

Becky Price (accordion and piano), Daniel Wolverson (fiddle and viola), Helen O'Hara (fiddle) and Kate Moran (fiddle and viola) weave together rich arrangements that cement Boldwood’s reputation for spellbinding performances and life enhancing energy.

Glory of the West is released on Hobgoblin Records. The first two volumes of the Boldwood Dancing Master books, which include many of the tunes heard on this album, are published by Blast Books. A third volume is due to be published shortly.
